VENUE

The Symposium will take place at the Scientific and Technological Park of Epirus (STEP) which is located next to the University of Ioannina campus (some 6 km south of downtown Ioannina).  

Plenary sessions will take place in the STEP's auditorium that can host up to 300 participants. The auditorium  is equipped with all modern facilities required for a conference.

The Symposium's venue is easily accessible from downtown Ioannina via public transportation (bus Number 16; one bus every 10-15 minutes).

If you stay at Alexios Hotel get bus Number 16 from the bus stop which is located at Valaoritou Street across the street from the little park. If you stay at Palladion or Egnatia Hotels get bus Number 16 from the bus stop which is located at  '28th Oktovriou' Street near 'Hondos Center' store. If you stay at Olympic or Galaxy Hotels get bus Number 16 from the bus stop which is located at Dodonis Avenue, across the street from the Courthouse and a couple of blocks south of Ioannina's Prefecture Building. You may locate your bus stop by checking out this map of downtown Ioannina (the names of most relatively large roads appear both in Greek and English while the H in squares mark hotel locations).

The blue line in the Google map below shows the bus's way from (approximately) the Courthouse to the bus stop closest to the conference venue. From the courthouse, a 10-15-minute bus ride is required to reach Stavros Niarchos Str. (a.k.a. Panepistimiou Str.).   After about a 1.3-km ride in Stavros Niarchos Str., you will see a Carrefour supermarket on the left side of the road. You will get off at the bus stop right after the first traffic lights from Carrefour (some 1.1 km from Carrefour). The orange-white building on your right is STEP (see also the Google map below; the placemark closer to the street intersection is STEP). After you get off the bus, your way to the symposium's venue will be marked by signs prepared by the LOC.  If you decide to use the bus you will have to purchase your ticket (ask for the yellow tickets: 1.1 Euros each way) in advance in one of the numerous downtown kiosks.

Alternatively you may get a taxi to get to the symposium's venue from downtown Ioannina. Estimate that you will pay around 5 Euros each way.

If you rent a car and you drive from downtown Ioannina, take Dodonis Avenue towards Athens and merge onto Ioannina-Athens National Road. Continue southbound until the first traffic light (there is a gas station on your right and a military camp on your left).  Follow the signs to "University" and "University Hospital" and make a right turn there and after one block make a left. You are at "Stavros Niarchos Str." now (a.k.a. "Panepistimiou Str."). You follow it until you reach  the intersection which is adjacent to the placemarks of the Google map. Make a right turn there, drive for a few meters until you reach an orange-white building which is the Symposium's venue.

ACCOMMODATION

There is a guest house within walking distance (one block away) from the Symposium's venue. It contains 44 modern two-bed rooms that can host participants provided that at the time of the workshop they won't be used by people (foreign students studying modern Greek) who have granted priority access to the guest house. We anticipate that at the time of the workshop most rooms will be available to the participants. The guest house's room rates are 30 Euros per night if one person occupies a single room and 20 Euros per night per person if two persons share a room.
